Troubleshooting external connections

Before troubleshooting any external devices, ensure that all external cables are securely attached to the external connectors on your system before troubleshooting any external devices.

Troubleshooting the video subsystem

NOTE: Ensure the Local Server Video Enabled option is selected in the iDRAC Graphical User Interface (GUI), under Virtual Console. If this option is not selected, local video is disabled.

If the tests run successfully, the problem is not related to video hardware.

If the tests fail, see the Getting help section.

Troubleshooting a USB device

In iDRAC Settings Utility, ensure that USB Management Port Mode is configured as Automatic or Standard OS Use.
If the problem is not resolved, proceed to step 7 to troubleshoot other USB devices attached to the system.

If your keyboard is functioning, enter System Setup, verify that all USB ports are enabled on the Integrated Devices screen. If your keyboard is not functioning, use remote access to enable or disable the USB options.

In the IDRAC Settings Utility, ensure that USB Management Port Mode is configured as Automatic or Standard OS Use.

In the iDRAC Settings Utility, ensure that USB Management Port Mode is configured as Automatic or iDRAC Direct Only.

Ensure that the iDRAC Managed: USB XML Configuration option is either Enabled or Enabled only when the server has default credential settings.
