Locks Used

This is the number of locks in use on the ASE.  Use this value to both tune the number of locks configured on the server and as an indicator of activity on an ASE.

The default value for the "number of locks" configuration parameter is 5000.  Watch this value and the Error Log to make sure this number is not exceeded, and adjust it as necessary.

Locking affects performance of an ASE by limiting concurrency.  The number of locks used is only one measurement to track.

Go to the Locksdrilldownto view detailed information on user and object lock activity.  This information should provide direction on choosing the appropriate locking schemes to be employed.
