Percent of Max component

The Percent of Max component shows the percentage of the maximum number of active applications allowed on the database.

Required monitor switch

None

Displayed statistic

At each refresh, Spotlight captures the percentage of the maximum number of number of active applications allowed on the database as defined by the MAXAPPLS database configuration parameter. You can use the Metric Editor customize the thresholds and the moving average for the metric behind this statistic to generate appropriate alarms.

Additional statistic

At each refresh, the statistic showing the ratio of currently active applications to the pre-defined average number of applications running against the database at any one time is captured but not displayed for this component. (The average number of applications is defined by the AVG_APPLS database configuration parameter.) However, you can customize the thresholds and moving average for the metric behind this statistic to generate additional alarms on the component.

Metric customization

For information about using the Metric Editor to customize the metric behind each displayed statistic, refer to the Spotlight basics help. To open this help, select Help|Contents.

Associated drilldown

Click the Percent of Max component to open the Databases drilldown. From this drilldown, you can view performance statistics for the database (or for each partition on the database) to help you pinpoint problems. The Configuration tab lists the values for both MAXAPPLS and AVG_APPLS database configuration parameters.
