Foglight Transaction Recorder 5.6.13 - Recorder Getting Started Guide

Favorites window

The Favorites Window mirrors the bookmarks created in Internet Explorer. These bookmarks can be used instead of typing the URL during the recording process. The Add and Organize buttons work exactly as they would in Internet Explorer. The Refresh button synchronizes the favorites list with your current favorites in Internet Explorer. This is done automatically each time you launch the Foglight Transaction Recorder.

How Foglight Transaction Recorder works

Each action you take in the Foglight Transaction Recorder window during the Web recording process creates an instruction. Instructions are grouped into a script, assigned a name, and saved with an .ftr extension. Scripts are deployed on Foglight Management Servers, which then deploy to Transaction Player agents to verify that end users are seeing performance that meets business process requirements. For more information, see Publish scripts to Foglight.

Foglight Transaction Recorder sample scripts

The Foglight Transaction Recorder provides sample scripts to assist you in learning the script recording process. When the Foglight Transaction Recorder is installed, the scripts are placed in the Windows® operating system My Documents folder.

FTR-Random Input example

This script randomly selects a search term from a list. The instruction Set Value: random has been edited from the default values to use a Value Script as the Value Source. A Value Script, which can be viewed in Instruction Properties, has been written and added to randomly select from a list of search phrases.
