Foglight for JMX 5.9.8

This Managing JMX Systems: User Guide provides instructions, and conceptual information about how to collect and display JMX metrics and MBean data from JMX-enabled systems in Foglight for JMX.

This chapter outlines the system requirements and other guidelines for Foglight for JMX, including the minimum OS maintenance patches required to run Java applications, and the Foglight for JMX Management Server version requirements.

Operating System Patch Requirements

To ensure the stable performance of Foglight for JMX and its agent, your operating system must have the minimum maintenance patches required to run Java applications. Patch requirements are available at the following URLs:

AIX 5L 5.3 require patches to run JDK 1.4.2, 1.5, and 1.6 VMs; see the URL listed above for the latest patch requirements.

Linux: Check for known problems in the release notes and check that the packages they mention are up to date.

Solaris: Log on to the My Oracle Support site (http://support.oracle.com) and open the Patch & Update tab.

Supported JDKs for JMX Monitoring

This section outlines the supported operating systems and JDKs.


	IMPORTANT: Local Process Discovery is supported only for Java processes running in Oracle JDK 1.6 or JRockit JDK 1.6. Earlier versions of the JDK and JDKs from other vendors are incompatible.

HP-UX JDK

Foglight for JMX supports the following operating systems with HP JDKs.
