Safe Mode
NetVault is running in Safe Mode because it has encountered a problem. No backup or restore jobs are currently running. These screens are designed to help analyze and fix the issue. You may also be able to view the NetVault logs
NetVault is in Safe Mode for the following reasons:
Problem | Information |
Cannot connect to the NetVault database | Cannot connect to database 'netvault_auditing'. What now?
You can restart NetVault with extra diagnostic information. This information is likely to be needed if you contact support
By default, NetVault uses port 51486 to connect to the PostgreSQL database. If the port is changed, NetVault won't be able to retrieve information stored on the database and go into Safe Mode.
Connection to the database can be tested by running the psql command:
%NVHOME%/pgsql/bin/psql -h 127.0.0.1 -p 51486 -U postgres -d netvault_auditing
The default location of the PostgreSQL configuration file is %NVHOME%/db/pgsql/postgresql.conf; check the port value under the "Connection Settings" section:
# - Connection Settings -
#listen_addresses = 'localhost' | # what IP address(es) to listen on; |
# comma-separated list of addresses;
# defaults to 'localhost'; use '*' for all
# (change requires restart)
port = 51486 | # (change requires restart) |
max_connections = 100 | # (change requires restart) |
#superuser_reserved_connections = 3 | # (change requires restart) |
Similarly, NetVault will try to connect to PostgreSQL using the information located on %NVHOME%/config/pgdb.cfg under the ConnectionInfo section:
[ConnectionInfo]
host=
hostaddr=
port=51486
user=postgres
password=
Verify that the port number matches. Restart NetVault services to enact the changes. Click the hyperlink to "restart NetVault in normal mode" to resume normal operation.
