Find SQL - Homepage

The Find SQL homepage varies depending on whether or not you have used the Find SQL module before.

  • If you are using Find SQL for the first time, the homepage allows you to add a server connection and start you first session.
  • If you are creating a subsequent session, the homepage allows you to review previous search sessions, start a new search, and add servers.

Homepage - First Session

To start creating search sessions, add a server connection. Your new saved search sessions in Find SQL will be organized by server.

To add a server connection and start your first session

  1. After selecting the Find SQL tab, select Click here to start find SQL to create your first search session.
  2. Then select a connection.

After you create a new session, another window displays two panels. The left side displays the Find SQL from Plan Cache panel, and the right side displays the Find SQL from SQL Trace panel. Select which type of search to create for your first session.

To start first session - Find SQL from Plan Cache

Note: The Find SQL from Plan Cache module only supports SQL Server 2005 (Service Pack 2) or later.

To start first session - Find SQL from SQL Trace

Homepage - Subsequent Sessions

Upon subsequent sessions, the homepage displays a list of servers and recent searches—for both Plan Cache and SQL Trace sessions.

You can start a new search, add a server, or review a saved search. Review the following for additional information:
