Resolution 1:
The retention policy of vRanger is designed for the user to be able to specify at a minimum how many days it is required to have backups.
The default for vRanger is seven save points (backup points) and when differentials or Incremental are chosen it defaults to six. This would result in your getting one full and six differential images. You will also see additional images get added until the first set is replaced and then vRanger will delete the old.
It is required to indicate in the job the required minimum amount of backups in "Savepoint Count", for example, thirty for a month, and then choose to have a certain number of those be differentials or incrementals in Threshold count.
**Note** When differentials are chosen you can also allow for a full to be run instead of a differential if more than a certain percentage of a VM’s contents change since its last image.
Resolution 2:
In the Retention Policy setting in the job, confirm under "Full Backup Days" that the correct setting is selected, for example, if you want Fulls to run on Saturday, have Saturday checked, and the other days unchecked.
If the settings are correct and the retention policy is not working as expected, please recreate the job.
