Customize Connections

You can use the Connections window to create and manage connections.

You can also use the Connections window to define missing connections in a Toad document.

To define a missing connection

If the Connections window displays when opening a Toad document, the document contains connections that are not currently defined in your Connection/Navigation Manager.

  • To define a connection, either enter the connection credentials, select another connection, or define a new connection for the document.

To manage connections

  1. Click on the Connections toolbar.

  2. In the Connections window, use the following toolbar buttons to manage connections:

    Create a new connection. When creating a connection, click Save to save details for the connection without connecting to the database.

    Create a new connection based an existing connection. When creating a connection, click Save to save details for the connection without connecting to the database.

    Connect to the selected connection. When connecting, click Cancel to abort the attempted connection.

    Disconnect from the selected connection. When disconnecting, click Cancel to abort the attempted disconnection.

    View properties for the selected connection.

    Import connections.

    Export Toad connections and saved passwords to an XML file. You can then provide this file to other users.

    Display connections in a hierarchical tree.
    Displays connections in a flat tree view.
    Import all connections currently defined on the DB2 client Toad is using.
    Open the Client Configuration Wizard to catalog DB2 connections on the DB2 client Toad is using.

    If you have multiple DB2 clients installed, click this button to transfer a catalog from one DB2 client to the DB2 client Toad is using (default DB2 client). See Configure DB2 Client Connections for more information.

Tip: Hover over an open z/OS DB2 connection to display the IBM Data Sharing member name.
