Log Reader - Filter Entries

Use the Log Reader filter feature to list only the transaction log records of interest. You can use the filter feature on the lists on the DML/DDL and Full Log pages.

To filter transaction log records

  1. Click Filter on the Log Reader toolbar. The icon and text stay highlighted.
  2. Specify the filer options on the Filter tab below the transaction record list. Review the following for additional information:

To filter based on:

Select this:

Then do this:

Time

General tab

Click Show only selected Period.

Set the period in the From and To fields.

LSN

General tab

Click Show only selected LSN's.

Specify the range in the From and To fields.

Transaction

General tab

Click Show only selected transaction.

Specify the transaction ID.

One or more tables affected

Tables tab

Click Show only selected tables.

In the table list on the left of the filter pane:

  • Select the checkbox next to each table to include.
  • Clear the checkbox next to each table to exclude.

To limit the information to a specific data page:

  1. Click Show only selected data page.
  2. Specify the Page ID and Slot ID.

One or more types of SQL operation

Operations tab

Click Show only selected operations.

In the operation list on the left of the filter pane:

  • Select the checkbox next to each operation type to include.

  • Clear the checkbox next to each operation type to exclude.

To limit the data further to operations that affect data:

Click Show only selected changes.

One or more logins

Logins tab

Click Show only selected logins.

In the login list on the left of the filter pane:

  • Select the checkbox next to each login to include.

  • Clear the checkbox next to each login to exclude.

To limit the information to a specific process:

  1. Click Show only selected processes.
  2. Specify the SPID.

One or more users

Users tab

Click Show only selected users.

In the user list on the left of the filter pane: 

  • Select the checkbox next to each user to include.

  • Clear the checkbox next to each user to exclude. 

One or more hosts

Hosts tab

Click Show only selected hosts.

In the host list on the left of the filter pane:

  • Select the checkbox next to each host to include.

  • Clear the checkbox next to each host to exclude.

One or more applications

Applications

Click Show only selected applications.

In the application list on the left of the filter pane:

  • Select the checkbox next to each application to include.

  • Clear the checkbox next to each application to exclude.

  1. Click Apply Filter.
