Log Reader - View Table History

Use the Table History wizard to list only the transaction log records for a specific table.

To view history for a specific table

  1. Run the Read Log Wizard. For more information, see Read Transaction Logs.
  2. Click on the Log Reader toolbar.
  3. Complete the following fields on the Filter Conditions page:

    Period

    Set the period in the Period from and to fields. The Log Reader displays only those commands which occurred during the selected time period.

    Column Name

    Displays the columns in the selected table.

    Condition

    For each column which you want to use in the filleting criteria, select one of the following comparison operators:

    • any value

    • =

    • <>

    • <

    • <=

    • >

    • >=

    • is null

    • not null

    • is changed

    • not changed

    • (For string types only) Is Empty

    • (For string types only) Not Empty

    • (For string types only) Like

    • (For string types only) Not Like

    Note: TEXT, NTEXT, IMAGE, XML, BINARY, VARBINARY, SQL_VARIANT, TIMESTAMP, UNIQUEIDENTIFIER types are not supported.

    Value

    Enter the comparison value.

    Show nonreconstructible records

    Select this option to display the records the Log Reader cannot reconstruct.

  4. Complete the wizard.

Note: The Log Reader displays results on separate tabs. You can use the Table History wizard repeatedly without losing previously filtered records.
