Foglight Transaction Recorder Sample Scripts

The Foglight Transaction Recorder provides sample scripts to assist you in learning the script recording process. When the Foglight Transaction Recorder is installed, the scripts are placed in the Windows operating system My Documents folder.
The following sample scripts are provided:

FTR-Random Input Example

This script randomly selects a search term from a list. The instruction Set Value: random has been edited from the default values to use a Value Script as the Value Source. A Value Script, which can be viewed in Instruction Properties, has been written and added to randomly select from a list of search phrases.
To run this sample script:

From the Foglight Transaction Recorder toolbar, click File > Open.

Click the My Documents icon on the left side of the Open Script dialog box, and navigate to My Foglight Scripts > Samples.

Select FTR-RandomInputExample.ftr.

Click Open.
The sample script opens in the Foglight Transaction Recorder Script window.

Click Play .
The script plays and results are provided in the Results Details view.

FTR-Clipboard Example

This script builds upon the FTR-Random Input Example in the previous procedure. The first input is selected randomly from a list. A “Value Script”, viewed in Instruction Properties, saves the random number generated to the clipboard.
The clipboard is then read by the “Value Script” in the second Set Value instruction. The second Value Script returns a value that is related to the first.
To run this sample script:

Select FTR-ClipboardExample.ftr.

WScript Simple Timers Example

This script demonstrates the correct method for creating transactions and timers within a called script. The script uses delays within the created timers to demonstrate how these values are returned to the Foglight Transaction Recorder.

NOTE: The provided timers.js sample file must be pointed to the Foglight Transaction Recorder script.
To run this sample script:

From the Foglight Transaction Recorder toolbar, click File > Open.

Click the My Documents icon on the left side of the Open Script dialog and navigate to My Foglight Scripts > Samples.

Select WScriptSimpleTimers.ftr.

Click Open.

The sample script opens in the Foglight Transaction Recorder Script window.

You must point the timer.js file used in the sample script to the Foglight Transaction Recorder. Right-click the Windows Script transaction and select Properties.

Click the Ellipse button in the Script row.

Navigate to My Foglight Scripts > Samples and select Timers.js.

Click Open.

Click OK.

Click Play.
The script plays and provides Result Details.
