Monitoring your ESX servers

Use Foglight Integration for OpenManage Essentials to add the hardware detail that OpenManage Essentials collects about your ESX servers into the Foglight for Virtualization EE dashboards. The ESX servers that are monitored by both products, can monitored and managed using the Foglight for Virtualization EE dashboards as a single-pane-of-glass.

Monitoring in the integrated dashboards

When you integrate OpenManage Essentials with Foglight for Virtualization EE, the dashboards display the integrated information, by default. Review the affected dashboards and the integrated information that you can find on them.

OME Configuration dashboard

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click OME > Configuration.
On this dashboard, you can manage the OME agent that communicates with the OpenManage Essentials API to integrate the monitored ESX server data.

VMware Environment dashboard

On the navigation panel, under Homes, click VMware Environment and select the OME_ESX_Hosts service.
All ESX hosts view
This dashboard displays all of the ESX hosts that are common between OpenManage Essentials and Foglight for Virtualization Enterprise Edition.

One ESX host view
Select an ESX host to see information specific to that server. In the Hardware section, you can click Go To OME to navigate to the external OME server.

NOTE: Internet Explorer® with Silverlight® is required to launch OpenManage Essentials.
