Adding and editing captured request body types

To add or edit a captured request body type definition:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure > Traffic Analysis.

Click Advanced Options, then expand Captured Request Body Types.

Do one of the following:
•
To add a new capture request body type definition, click Add.
•
To edit an existing definition, click its Edit icon.

In the Name box, specify the value of the content type. For an example, see Defining captured request body types.

Click Save.

Adding, copying, and editing scripts

To add, copy, or edit a script:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure > Traffic Analysis.

Click Advanced Options, then expand Scripts.

Do one of the following:
•
To add a new script, click Add.
•
To copy an existing script, click its Copy icon.
•
To edit an existing script, click its Edit icon.

In the Script - [Add|Copy|Edit] dashboard, complete the options. For help with options, see Defining scripts.

Click Edit Script.

In the Edit Script dialog box, write your script. For an example of a script, see Creating scripts.

To reference a custom field, metric, hit analyzer, or sequence analyzer in your script, see Referencing configuration objects in a script.

If you want to add a regular expression, you can test it first. See Testing regular expressions.

When you finish writing the script, click Done.

Click Test Script.

In the Test Script dialog box, provide real data and expected results.

Click Execute Test.

Verify that your test results match the expected results. If not, you need to modify your script.

Click Cancel to return to the Edit Script dialog box.

If necessary, modify your script based on your test results and rerun the test.

Click Save.

Removing scripts

Before you can remove a script, you need to remove all references to it.
To remove a script:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure > Traffic Analysis.

Click Advanced Options, then expand Scripts.

Locate the script you want to remove. If its Used By cell contains a list of configuration objects that use this script, click Cancel and edit each configuration object to remove the reference to the script.

Select the check box for the row containing the script to remove.

Click Remove.

Referencing configuration objects in a script

Foglight APM does not require configuration objects to have unique object names. If you want to reference a configuration object in your script, you need to use its UUID (universally unique identifier).
The configuration objects that can be referenced in a script are:
•
Custom Fields
•
Metric Definitions
•
Hit Analyzers
•
Sequence Analyzers

NOTE: These instructions assume that you are currently in the Edit Script dialog box. If not, see Adding, copying, and editing scripts.
To insert a configuration object in a script:

In the Edit Script dialog box, place your cursor where you want to insert the configuration object.

Click Look Up Object UUID.

In the Lookup dialog box, type the object name and click Lookup.
In the results table, you may see more than one object with the same name.

In the row containing the object you want to reference, click Insert UUID.
The object UUID is inserted into the script at the cursor location.
