How to manually uninstall Recovery Manager for Active Directory
Descrição
Trying to uninstall using Programs and Features fails and does not remove RMAD.
Resolução
First try using the Microsoft Uninstall Utility which can help resolve the following issues:
Corrupted registry keys on 64-bit operating systems
Corrupted registry keys that control the update data
Problems that prevent new programs from being installed
Problems that prevent existing programs from being completely uninstalled or updated
Problems that block you from uninstalling a program through Programs and Features in Control Panel
Download the Utility from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed
Run the file MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab
Select Uninstalling
Select the program to uninstall, for example Recovery Manager for Active Directory
Click Next
Click Yes
Try uninstalling again using Programs and Features
If the uninstall is successful, manually remove the installation directory. Note: If you are installing a new version of the product, do not delete any old files or folders that may be needed, such as backups
Remove the Backup Agents and Forest Recovery Agents if applicable
If you are still not able to uninstall, please try the following:
Open Registry editor
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Find the entries that mention 'Quest Recovery Manager for Active Directory'
Find the 'UninstallString' key, double click it and copy the value. The value contains the full command needed to uninstall the product
If the uninstall still fails using the command from the UninstallString, the entire registry will need to be searched for Quest Recovery Manager, deleting each entry found and then removing the program directories as well as the Backup file location (if you are not installing a new version) if it was changed from the default path:
- C:\ProgramData\Quest\Recovery Manager for Active Directory
- ..\Program Files\Quest\Recovery Manager for Active Directory
If the backups are stored on the DCs, they will need to be manually deleted (if you are not installing a new version)
Uninstall the Backup Agent from each DC if applicable
Uninstall the Forest Recovery Agent from each DC if applicable
NOTE: If you are using an older version of RMAD, the registry paths may reference a non-quest branded path.
