During verify settings, you receive the error "Network path not found" on the final "Run pre-recovery steps" task.

During a verify settings, on the final step, you receive the message "Restore validation failed: network path not found".
 

This can be caused by invalid NTFS permissions on the target files, while the share permissions are valid.
If this is the case, you can see the true access denied error (RPC 0x00000005) within the logs on the booted Quest Recovery environment ISO when using the BMR restore option. 

Another potential cause is UAC Remote restrictions on the RMAD server, if the target share is an administrative share (c$, etc), and using a local Administrator account as the "Backup Access Account". Microsoft added a token filter to UAC so that Local SAM accounts could not be used to access Administrative Shares over the network.

There may also be a “Deny” user right set that keeps Local SAM accounts from accessing the computer over the network.   

1. Launch the  “local security policy” editor by clicking Start, typing secpol.msc and hit enter
2. Expand Local Policies | User Rights Assignment
3. Scroll down to "Deny access to this computer from the network"
4. If "Local account and and member of Administrators group" is set remove it

1. Unregister the backups in the RMAD console
2. Share the folder where the backups are stored by right clicking the folder, selecting Properties, select the Sharing tab, click Advanced Sharing, click Permissions, add the Everyone group and give it Read permissions and click OK
3. Then in the RMAD console re-register your backups using the share name “\\<host IP>\ShareName\...”:

5. Right click Active Directory and select Register backups in folder
6. For the folder path type \<host IP>\ShareName\... NOTE: Do NOT re-register using the local path

Re-apply the NTFS permissions to the folders containing the BMR backups.
If they appear correct, try adding the "Backup access account" directly with full control. 

STATUS

Enhancement request number ADO-266184 has been submitted to Development for consideration in a future release of Recovery Manager for Active Directory Disaster Recovery Edition, to improve the error messaging when this does occur, to indicate the access denied.
