Error: "HTTP Error 404 - File or Directory not found" when navigating to Password Synchronization (4326183)

The Password Synchronization Utility has been set up and IIS (Internet Information Services) 6 is running. Trying to navigate to the Password Synchronization Utility web page returns HTTP Error 404 - File or Directory not found.

CAUSE

This error will occur if the IIS 6 web service extension called Active Server Pages is not enabled.

WORKAROUND

Enable the Active Server Pages web service extension in IIS Manager by taking the following steps:

1. Select Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Internet Information Services Manager.
2. Select the Web Services Extensions folder in the treeview.
3. Select the Active Server Pages web service extension in the right pane.
4. Click the 'Allow' button.
