How to install Spotlight on Active Directory 6.6
To install all components onto 1 computer:
1. Double-click on the auto-run, select the Install tab and select Spotlight on Active Directory
2. Click Next on the Welcome dialog
3. Read the license agreement and select "I accept the license agreement"
4. Click Next to view the User Information Dialog, enter your Full name and organization name and select either "Anyone who users this computer" or "Only for Me" option
5. Click Next to proceed to the Destination Folder
6. Click Next to accept the default installation drive and path settings OR Click Browse to select a different destination folder, then click OK, then click Next
7. Select Complete Installation and click Next
8. Enter the name of the SQL Server or SQL Instance where the database should be installed (for a custom installation, the database must reside in a pre-existing location), then click Next.
9. Enter the user name and password for the service account that is to be used to collect information from the DCs (These service credentials must have domain and local administrative privileges).
10. Click Next on the Ready to Install the Application dialog box to begin the installation.
11. Click Finish
Installing Components on Multiple Computers:
You can install the Spotlight on Active Directory Console, Diagnostic Services and Database components on separate computers. This is recommended if you have a large organization. The components must be installed in the following order:
- Spotlight Database
- Console
- Diagnostic Services
- Collector Management Console
To perform a custom installation launch the auto-run from each computer that will host 1 of the above components:
1. Double-click on the auto-run, select the Install tab and select Spotlight on Active Directory
2. Click Next on the Welcome dialog
3. Read the license agreement and select "I accept the license agreement"
4. Click Next to view the User Information Dialog, enter your Full name and organization name and select either "Anyone who users this computer" or "Only for Me" option
5. Click Next to proceed to the Destination Folder
6. Click Next to accept the default installation drive and path settings OR Click Browse to select a different destination folder, then click OK, then click Next
7. Select Custom Installation and click Next
8. Indicate the features you want to install on the local hard drive by selecting the appropriate installation option for each. (You cannot remotely install Spotlight on Active Directory components. You must manually install the components on different computers by launching the auto-run from each computer and selecting the appropriate components to be installed on each)
9. Enter the name of the SQL Server or SQL Instance where the database should be installed (for a custom installation, the database must reside in a pre-existing location), then click Next.
10. Enter the user name and password for the service account that is to be used to collect information from the DCs (These service credentials must have domain and local administrative privileges).
11. Click Next on the Ready to Install the Application dialog box to begin the installation.
12. Click Finish.
