Users may experience slowness in performance when accessing the SMA UI. These symptoms will include:
Additional to this, end users may experience high CPU usage on their endpoints, as metering is also a CPU intensive process on the endpoints. It is also possible for other agent tasks (such as patching, scripts, etc) to be delayed due to waiting on the agents to upload metering results, which can take minutes (for each device) to upload metering data if the database is bloated from it.
Software metering is an utility used to collect information on applications installed on the endpoints. Software metering is usually used to measure licensed applications to determine the usage frequency (so budget can be approved accordingly).
Software metering will utilize resources from the SMA and endpoints. When used incorrectly, performance issues may occur.
This also includes Application Control (Block List).
Slowness in accessing Device Inventory could be caused by many factors. KACE Technical Support may also require KACE Appliance Activity Logs during the troubleshooting process. During this process, KACE Technical Support may perform a remote session to investigate.

It can be noticed that SAM_METER tables are taking several gigabytes of space (4gb+), this can lead to performance issues as well.

There is not an specific number of software or devices that can be metered, as the resource utilization may vary depending on many variables (amount of devices, amount of software, how much the software is used, available resources on SMA, etc).
