The following procedure assumes that this is the first time you are enabling this appliance for NetVault™ backups. If you need help logging into the Console Program, see Launching the Console Program.

Before you begin, you need the following information:

IP Address — the IP Address for the appliance’s control port (eth0). |
|
• |
Password — the password used by the Network Administrator when completing the preceding procedure Enabling an appliance’s NetVault client. |

Firewall Setting — when configuring the client, you must enable the Outside Firewall option or the backup fails. The appliance includes an onboard firewall that NetVault needs to pass through (using firewall ports 20031-20041 TCP and 20031 UDP) to connect with the NetVault client located on the appliance. |
