Cannot send test email from SMA to Gmail account.
To help keep your account secure, starting May 30, 2022, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask to sign in to Google Account using only username and password; also known as less secure apps.
For more information, please read Less secure apps & your Google Account article.
To transition to the new authentication solutions we recommend to configure OAuth on the KACE SMA Service Desk for incoming emails using Google
1. Navigate to Control Panel | Network Settings.
2. For Email Configuration select Enabled, and Enable Service Desk POP 3 Server.
3. For SMTP Server enter smtp.gmail.com, Port 587.
4. For Login enter Gmail username such as, youremailaddress@gmail.com.
5. For Password enter the account password.
Caution: Be aware before hitting save, the SMA will reboot upon save.
6. Navigate to the Service Desk | Configuration | Queues, and select appropriate queue as needed to be configured.
7. On the Queue Detail page, add the Gmail email address to the Alternate Email Address field.
8. For POP3 Server, enter pop.gmail.com, and select Use SSL. (unless different)
9. For the POP3 User/Password field, enter email address and password.
10. For SMTP Server, enter smtp.gmail.com. SMTP port enter 587.
11. For SMTP Password, enter email address and password. (unless different)
12. Select Save at the bottom of the page.
The SMA is now configured to use Gmail to send and receive email.
If the above settings do not work and Google Apps for Your Domain is used.
If your company is using Gmail, use the following settings to set up the SMA to work with your emails.
Note: Depending on your security settings for Gmail to allow the SMA to have authorization to your Gmail account, turn on "Access for less secure apps".
If none of the steps mentioned above works, another option would be to use "Apps Passwords" or OAuth on Google.
