	NOTE: Depending on your user class rights, you may not be able to run the CSR Purge Wizard, or you may not have the option of purging CSRs without first exporting the data. Also, there is a user class right (typically reserved for system administrators) that enables the user to purge open CSRs.

To open the CSR Purge Wizard, select Tools | CSR Purge Wizard.

Exporting and Purging CSRs

You can use the CSR Purge Wizard to export closed CSRs to a .csr file and then permanently delete them from the Stat database.

When creating the export file, you can pick which items to include. If an item is NOT included in the export file, it cannot be restored. Exportable CSR items include:

Object history (dates of addition, locking, unlocking)

•

Archive history (name, source, object list, but not the actual archive)

To export and purge a CSR:

Open the CSR Purge Wizard and do one of the following:

•

Select Export to export CSR data without deleting the CSRs from the database.

•

Select Purge to delete selected CSRs from the database. Optionally, select the Export before purge option (recommended).


	NOTE: The Export before purge option remains selected unless the user has the right to purge without an export.

Click Next.

The next window displays a list of all the closed CSRs in the service domains that you have access to. The list can also include open CSRs if you have the user class right to purge open CSRs.

If you opted to export the CSR, do the following

Click the magnifying glass icon and browse for the .csr file you want to export the CSR to, or specify a new file.


	TIP: It is suggested that this be a network location or a location that is routinely backed-up.

Click Save.

Select the CSR(s) you want to export or purge.


	CAUTION: Be careful when clicking the select all button as this would cause all closed CSRs to be purged.

Select the CSR items you want to export.


	NOTE: CSR items not selected for export are not written to the .csr file and therefore cannot be restored.

Click Next.

If you are purging the CSR, you are prompted to confirm.

Click Yes to confirm.

If you opted to export the CSR, the CSR Purge Wizard exports the CSR data to the file. If you opted to purge the CSR, the CSR Purge Wizard deletes it from the Stat database. Tables and CSRs are displayed as they are exported and then purged.

A log file is generated in the same location as the .csr file detailing the export and purge operations.

Click Finish to close the wizard.

Importing CSRs

If you used the CSR Purge Wizard to delete a CSR but first exported its data to a .csr file, you can use the CSR Purge Wizard to retrieve the CSR information and recreate the deleted CSR in the Stat Database.

To import a CSR:

Open the CSR Purge Wizard and select the Import option.

Click Next.

Browse for the .csr file containing that contains the data of the previously exported and deleted CSR.

The CSR Purge Wizard parses the .csr file and displays a list of each CSR contained in the file.

If more than one CSR is contained in the selected .csr file, select the CSR you want to import.

Click Next.

The CSR Purge Wizard retrieves the CSR data from the file and recreates the CSR in the Stat database. A log file is generated in the same location as the original .csr file detailing the import operation.

Impact Wizard

When a developer modifies an object, sometimes other objects are affected unexpectedly or without your knowledge. Before any changes are made to an object, you can run the Impact Wizard to determine which object types might be affected and how many instances of these object types exist in selected environments.

The Impact Wizard can be run from a CSR, or from the Object Management menu:

•

When run from a CSR, it runs ‘against’ the objects you select on the CSR’s object list (the objects you plan to modify), and it runs ‘on’ selected object types that you think might be affected by these modifications.

•

When run from the Object Management menu, you must specify the change management module, the environment, the object type, and then the individual objects you want to run the wizard ‘against,’ after which you specify the object type(s) you want to run the wizard ‘on.’

Although you can run the Impact Wizard for all the object classes supported by Stat (PeopleSoft proprietary objects, file objects, data objects, and schema objects), the methods used by the wizard to return the list of possibly affected objects vary depending on the classification of the objects it is run ‘against’ vs. the classification of object types it is run ‘on’. The following table presents the 16 possible object class combinations and describes the impact analysis method used by the wizard for each. A description of
‘N/A’ means that no impact is possible between the object class the wizard is run ‘against’ and the object class it is run ‘on.’

If more than one schema owner has an object with the same name, the user is prompted to select the schema owner they want returned. Schema objects are stored in Stat with their schema owner.

In addition to the analysis methods detailed in the above table, keep in mind the following considerations when running the wizard:

•

The wizard cannot search for impacts on file objects that contain inserted objects, such as graphics.

•

When searching for impacts on file objects, the wizard temporarily copies files to the Log Destination Directory defined in the Stat User Options window. When the search is complete, the wizard deletes the files.

•

When run on a file object designated as a database script, the wizard identifies the schema objects impacted by the script and automatically adds those objects to the CSR.
