The default Management Server settings may not suit all environments. For example, you may want to run the browser interface over an HTTPS port instead of the default port. This section describes how to configure Management Server settings on the appliance and highlights other things you should know about working with appliances.

Configuring Management Server settings

You change default behavior by removing the comment symbol (#) from the relevant lines of code in the appliance.config file. The following table summarizes the things you can do by editing this configuration file and shows the affected lines of code.


	NOTE: The appliance.config file may be updated between releases. For the most up-to-date information, see the comments in the appliance.config file itself.

To edit and save the configuration file:

Log into the Console Program.

Select Advanced Options, then Access Shell.

Type: vi /opt/quest/foglight/config.appliance/appliance.config

Edit settings as required.

Save your edits and exit the editor by pressing Esc and then typing :wq

Restart Foglight by typing: rcfoglight restart

Configuring the Management Server to work with SSL keys

You can configure the Management Server to work with SSL keys for the following functions:

•

Creating a new SSL key for Foglight HTTPS access

•

Using an existing SSL key for Foglight HTTPS access

•

Configuring Foglight for secure remote LDAP access

You must run these functions from the appliance’s command line shell. For details about how to log into the command line shell, see Accessing the home directory.

Creating a new SSL key for Foglight HTTPS access

To create a new SSL key for Foglight HTTPS access:

Create a certificate signing request (CSR) by running the following command:

/opt/quest/foglight/config.appliance/create_foglight_csr.sh <new CSR file>

Send the CSR file to a Certification Authority (CA) to be signed.

Securely copy (scp) the signed certificate to the appliance.

Import your signed certificate by running the following command:

/opt/quest/foglight/config.appliance/import_foglight_cert.sh <signed certificate file>

Verify the server.console.httpsonly = “true” entry is uncommented in the /opt/quest/foglight/config.appliance/appliance.config file.

Restart Foglight by typing: rcfoglight restart
