Slow performance while performing backups with Hot-Add transport method. -
Description
This issue is present in the following scenarios:
- vRanger Pro Backup & Replication is installed on a virtual machine.
- The server running the application has enough resources to handle the backup/restore process.
- There are no virtual appliances in the cluster.
- Machine Hot-Add transport method is enabled within the backup/restore job.

Cause
This is a defect in the VMware VDDK 6.5.2, 6.5.3 and 6.7. vRanger Pro Backup & Replication 7.8.0 using VMware VDDK 6.5.2. It has been documented in VMware KB 55418.
This defect is only present when using Hot-Add transport on a Windows VM with vRanger installed to process the backup/restore. It causes the VDDK to check the disk status too frequently, dropping the performance of the backup/restore job.

Resolution
- Deploy a virtual appliance for the VMware cluster or a virtual appliance for each host. The Linux Virtual Appliance is unaffected by this VDDK defect.
- Roll-back to a previous version of vRanger Backup Pro & Replication.
