To create or alter a role
Select the Roles node under the Security node in the Object Explorer.

Select the type of role for the database. Valid values are:

Displays the database roles or users assigned to this role. Note: This list is only available if you select a Database role. |
To create or alter a user-defined server role
Select the Server Roles node under the Server Security node in the Object Explorer.
Note: User-defined server roles are marked with red icon in the Object Explorer.
