This grid presents a list of known services from the UNIX machine's /etc/services file.
The Services grid is NOT updated every time that Spotlight data is refreshed, as the contents of the /etc/services file do not change often. To update this page manually, press the F5 key, or choose the Refresh option from the View menu.
NOTE:
Because information in the Services page is not updated when Spotlight data is refreshed, data from this page is NOT available in historical snapshots.
Service name: The name of the specified service.
Port number: The port used by the service to transfer data.
Protocol: The transfer protocol used by the service. Possible protocols include TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol).
Aliases: Alternative names for the service.
Active? The current status of the port used by the service (initially blank). To display the status, right-click on a service in the table, and choose Test port from the shortcut menu. Possible values are:
