This grid lists each data cache (default and individual named caches) along with relevant performance metrics.
Use this grid to quickly compare overall performance between caches defined to the Adaptive Server.
Tuning the performance of a server's data cache configuration can have a dramatic effect on application response times. Poorly configured caches can have the reverse effect on an Adaptive Server.
A cache that is poorly used hurts performance. For example, if you allocate a high percentage of your data cache to a database that services a very small percentage of the query activity on your server, I/O increases in other caches.
When a cache is selected from the Data Cache grid, the Buffer Pool grid is displayed in the Buffer Pool sub-page, which shows an entry for each pool for the cache, along with its performance characteristics.
The following table describes the columns in the grid:
Column |
Description |
Cache Name |
Name of the cache as defined when created (including "default data cache") |
Cache Size (KB) |
Configured size of the cache in Kilobytes |
Dirty Buffers |
Number of dirty buffers found |
Physical Reads |
Number of buffers read into cache from disk |
Logical Reads |
Total number of buffers read from cache |
Physical Writes |
Number of buffers written from cache to disk |
Number of Pools |
Number of pools configured for the cache |
Number of Partitions |
Number of partitions created for the cache |
Strategy |
The cache’s default caching strategy. |
