Define Files to Monitor in Windows Files Metrics

Define the files (usually log files) in your Windows system for Spotlight to track the growth of. Spotlight reports an alarm when a file approaches the maximum file size you have set.

To define files to monitor in Windows Files Metrics:

  1. Open Windows File Metrics. Windows Files Metrics
  2. Click Add or highlight a file and click Edit.

Define the file to monitor

Control Description

File Name

Locate the file on the Windows system.

File Size

Define the maximum allowed file size.

Note: This does NOT prevent the file growing beyond the maximum defined size. However, if the file exceeds the size defined here then Spotlight raises a critical alarm.
