Engines Online/Configured

This metric displays the number of engines online / configured.

ASE implements the Virtual Server Architecture. This enables the ASE to take advantage of the parallel processing feature of symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) systems.

You can run Adaptive Server as a single Operating System (OS) process or as multiple, cooperating OS processes. A DBA configures this depending on the number of CPUs available on the host server, and considering the demands placed on the server machine by other tasks.

Go to the CPU Summary drilldown for detailed information on each engine.

For a definition of "engine" in this context, see the Glossary.
