Rapid Recovery 6.7 NBD module fails to compile with kernel 4.18.0 on RHEL 8.6

When installing the Rapid Recovery agent version 6.7 on a Linux server running RHEL 8 and kernel 4.18.0, it fails to compile.  Error during agent installation:

Checking the make log file (/var/lib/dkms/nbd/6.7.0.387/build/make.log) we can see the following error:

When try to mount a recovery via Linux LMU you may get the following error: 
Attach device failed for device path of '/dev/sda3' with error code VersionMismatch
Call to service method https://Server:8006/apprecovery/api/agent/transfer/snapshots/57b6ebc6-902f-4356-9f23-2831480d3356/volumes/~|~~|~%253f~|~Volume%257b19ac6071-e84d-7955-c92b-60530e7f9141%257d~|~/driver GET failed: Attach device failed for device path of '/dev/sda3' with error code VersionMismatch
 

This issue is caused because NBD module couldn't compile with kernel. Network Block Device (NBD) is a network protocol that can be used to forward a block device (typically a hard disk or partition) from one machine to a second machine (For more details please refer to the following link).

This module is used to attach the recovery points volumes backup as local storage and gain block level access to it in order to restore data from it.

This issue was identified as a software defect and it's currently been investigated by our development team.

Note: This issue won't impact or interfere with backup functionality.

Contact us by opening a ticket via Quest Portal in order to request the new compiler script and, once you get it, follow the steps below

1. Go to the path /usr/bin/by running: cd /usr/bin/
2. Rename rapidrecovery-module-installer (ex. /usr/bin/rapidrecovery-module-installer-backup) by running: mv rapidrecovery-module-installer rapidrecovery-module-installer-backup
3. Download "rapidrecovery-module-installer" from here and copy it to /usr/bin.
4. Provide execution permissions to the script by running: run chmod +x /usr/bin/rapidrecovery-module-installer
5. Run option 4 on the agent configuration wizard by running:
rapidrecovery-config
