Error: "Volume or Directory C:\Windows\TEMP\AppRecoveryHyperVagent\8010 is Write Protected During VM Export or Hyper-V Host Addition -
Description
When attempting to perform a Virtual Machine (VM) export on Hyper-V or add a Hyper-V host for Agentless backup, the operation fails with the following error:
"Volume or directory 'C:\Windows\TEMP\AppRecoveryHyperVagent\8010' is write protected." -
Cause
The error occurs due to a write protection setting on the directory used by AppRecovery during the operation. This can happen even when using a local administrator account and after assigning owner access rights to the directory. -
Resolution
Reboot the Core Operating System (OS). This often clears any residual locks or permissions issues that could be causing the write protection error.
Additional Notes:
- Verify that the directory in question is not write-protected
- Ensure that the user account running the operation has full administrative rights.
- Check the event logs for any related errors that might provide further insight.
