Cause
The error occurs because the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) subsystem is inconsistent, leading to backup process failures. -
Resolution
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

Repair the Agent Installation:
- Go to the Control Panel.
- Open "Programs and Features."
- Find the Rapid Recovery Agent and choose the option to repair the installation.

Restart Services: Restart the following services in the sequence listed below:
- COM+ Event System
- COM+ System Application Service: If this service is not started, start it manually.
- Distributed Transaction Coordinator Service
- Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS)
- SQL Server VSS Writer

Reboot the Server: If the issue persists after completing the steps above, reboot the affected server to reset the VSS subsystem.
