Seeing numerous errors in the system events referring to bad blocks as below:

Run chkdsk on the partition
To find the recovery partition, open a command prompt and execute the "mountvol" command.
This will list all of the volumes on the system and provide the GUID.
You should see an output such as this:
Possible values for VolumeName along with current mount points are:
D:\
The relevant volume will be the one without the drive letter.
Run chkdsk for the partition as follows:
chkdsk "\\?\Volume{9b1f8565-a67f-11e6-80b3-806e6f6e6212}"
If errors are seen, run fix/repair as needed.
