VSS error: "Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine ConvertStringSidToSid" (4040046)

Specific agent is failing to perform a snapshot with timeout error:

The transfer failed: 'Timeout taking VSS snapshot of 'Agent'.'
WCFClientBase.ServiceMethodCallTimedOutException: Call to service method https://Agent:8006/apprecovery/api/agent/transfer/snapshots POST failed: Service method call timed out after 01:00:00.0003952

On the agent, Event Viewer, Application, Event ID 8193 is generated with the message:

"Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine ConvertStringSidToSid(.bak). hr = 0x80070539,
The security ID structure is invalid.

To resolve the issue, please perform the following on the agent server:

1. Open regedit
2. Go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
3. Delete the .bak, that event Viewer is complaining about
4. Reboot the server
5. Force a snapshot from the Core once agent becomes available
