Preconditions:
1. Rapid Recovery Core Server is installed.
2. Hyper-V server is available.
3. VM on SMB 3.0 share is created, for reference check MS Documentation.
Steps:
1. Launch Protect Multiple Machines Wizard, at Connection step select Hyper-V, enter Hyper-V credentials, enable checkbox “Protect the Hyper-V Server without requiring an Agent in the guest VMs”.
2. Select machine which is located on SMB 3.0 share and protect it agentlessly.
Expected result:
VM which is located on SMB3 share could be protected successfully.
Actual result:
Protection of VMs which are located on SMB 3.0 share fails with error 'Element not found'
Unfortunately SMB 3.0 is still not supported, however adding support to this new functionality is currently being reviewed by our resources.
This includes the new MS Windows Server 2016 Storage Spaces Direct which provide network-attached storage over SMB 3.0 file shares.
The best option is to allocate the CSV that hosts the VM's vhdx files on a supported storage/file system or can install the Rapid Recovery Agent software on each Hyper-V VM that were previously trying to protect with agentless feature.
No workaround available at the moment.
