How to Install Rapid Recovery Core (4035218)

This article describes how to download the Rapid Recovery Core Software and then how to install it Core onto a dedicated server.

Because the Rapid Recovery Core stores and manages the backups of all protected machines in your environment, you should install the Rapid Recovery Core on a dedicated server. Depending on your license and your environment requirements, you may need to install multiple cores.

To install the Rapid Recovery Core, you must log on to the Rapid Recovery License Portal at https://licenseportal.com and register for an account, and then download the installer and obtain a license key to activate the software.

Go to Rapid Recovery - Download Software select the version you want to install from the dropdown and download the Recovery Core X64 Installer.

After you install the Rapid Recovery Core, you can download the Rapid Recovery Agent installer from the Support Portal or the License Portal.

NOTE: The Rapid Recovery Core cannot be installed on the Windows Core version. The Rapid Recovery Core requires a 64-bit Windows platform; 32-bit systems and Linux systems are not supported.

Complete the steps in this procedure to download and install the Rapid Recovery Core.

To download and install the Rapid Recovery Core

1. After downloading the Rapid Recovery Core installer, right-click on it and go to properties and check the box to "Unlock" it and "Apply" the change.
2. Execute the installer as an administrator.
   NOTE: The installer checks that the .NET Framework, supported version, is installed on your system. If it is missing, the installer will prompt you to download and install the framework.
   The Rapid Recovery Core Installation wizard appears.
3. On the Welcome page, click Next to continue with the installation.
   The License Agreement page appears.
4.  Click I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.
   The Prerequisites page appears.
5. Click Install Prerequisites.
   The installer will install the required Windows runtime libraries. The Prerequisites page includes a progress bar to let you view the progress of the prerequisites installation.
   NOTE: If the prerequisites are already installed on the machine, you will receive a message to indicate that the files exist.
6. Once the prerequisites are installed, click Next.
7. On the Installation Options page, review and modify installation options, and then click Next.
8. On the Installation Options page, you can perform the following:
   • Review the destination folder for the installation. If you want to change the location, click Change, and then select a new location.
   • Click Allow Core to automatically send diagnostic and usage information to AppAssure Software to send diagnosis and user information to AppAssure. If you do not want to send this information, clear the option.
   • Enter a port number to use for communication between the agent and the Rapid Recovery Core. The default value is 8006. If you change the port number, be sure to make note of it in the event that you need to adjust configuration settings at a later time.
9. Click Next.
10. The Progress page appears and includes a status bar that lets you monitor the progress of the installation.
11. When the installation is complete, the Completed page appears.
