How to stop the AppAssure or Rapid Recovery Core Service. Also known as a Graceful Shutdown. At some point, you will need to stop the Core Service for Product or Windows maintenance. The following details the steps necessary to perform a Graceful Shutdown.
The following steps are optimized for the most recent releases of AppAssure and Rapid Recovery.
NOTE: If the Core Service is not stopped before a server reboot or the Core Service is killed, it will be flagged as a Dirty Shutdown. When the Core Service is restarted the Maintaining Repository job must run a longer repository check before the Core is available again. In addition, repetitive dirty shutdowns may lead to corruption of DVM repositories.
If using PowerShell commands, they must be ran from a PowerShell elevated command prompt. If the Core operating system is 2008 or 2008 R2, you must first import the Core PowerShell Module. Enter the following command and then press Enter:
