Upgrade and compatibility

Upgrade and compatibility

The latest version of Foglight for Microsoft .NET is version 5.9.13. Upgrades from version 5.9.4 and later are supported.

For full upgrade instructions, see the Foglight Upgrade Guide.

Foglight Compatibility Requirements:

  • Foglight Management Server version 5.6.7 or later.
Important: There is a known issue with Foglight Management Server 5.7.1 that might occur after upgrading Foglight for Microsoft .NET. Newly monitored objects may fail to display in the dashboards. If this issue occurs, a workaround is available in Knowledge Base article 152648 available at https://support.quest.com/foglight/kb/152648.
  • The Nexus requires Foglight Agent Manager version 5.6.7.2 or later. Version 5.6.7.3 or later is recommended.
  • The .NET agent requires Foglight Agent Manager version 5.6.2.6 or later.

Agent Compatibility Requirements:

  • Foglight for Microsoft .NET 5.9.13 accepts connections from .NET agents versions 5.9.12, 5.9.11, 5.9.10, 5.9.9.x, 5.9.8.x, 5.9.7.x, 5.9.6.x, 5.9.5, 5.9.4.x, 5.9.3.x, and 5.9.2. Earlier versions of the .NET agent, including 5.9.1, are not supported.

  • The .NET agent version 5.9.13 requires that .NET Framework 4.0 or later is installed on the monitored host.
  • Application pools monitored by the .NET agent can use either .NET v2.0 or .NET v4.0.

Compatibility with other Application Server Monitoring products:

  • Foglight for Microsoft .NET 5.9.13 is compatible with Foglight for Java EE Technologies version 5.9.2 and later. Do not attempt to use it alongside any earlier versions of Foglight for Java EE Technologies.
  • Foglight for Microsoft .NET 5.9.13 is compatible with Foglight for JMX version 5.9.3 and later. Do not attempt to use it alongside any earlier versions of Foglight for JMX.

To upgrade to version 5.9.13:
  • Read the Foglight for Microsoft .NET Installation and Configuration Guide before you install the cartridge.
  • Follow the full upgrade procedures as provided in the Foglight Upgrade Guide.
  • Ensure that Nexus debug level is set to 0 before upgrading from version 5.9.x. This configuration is to avoid that the "UndeclaredThrowableException" error occurs when deactivating/activating Nexus if the debug level is set to 2, or when a new Nexus cartridge gets installed over a Nexus running on the debug level 1.
