About reports

Foglight for Hyper-V includes a report generation ability. This allows you to create reports using a set of predefined templates to report on the various aspects of your database environment. Foglight for Hyper-V includes a collection of predefined report templates.

You can generate, copy, and edit reports using the Reports tab on the Hyper-V Environment dashboard, or alternatively the Reports dashboard included with the Management Server.

For more information on how to use this tab to create and manage reports, see the Managing Capacity in Virtual Environments User Guide. For more information about the Reports dashboard, see the Foglight User Help.

Report templates

The following templates are available with Foglight for Hyper-V.

Summarizes your virtual infrastructure, so that you can be sure you are in compliance with the Foglight for Hyper-V license.

Contains the capacity and performance details for the selected Hyper-V Server.

Summarizes the capacity and performance details of the selected Hyper-V Server.

Shows the configurations for the Hyper-V Servers in the selected environment.

Contains the summary details for the Hyper-V Servers contained within the selected service.

Contains the network performance details for the Hyper-V Server.

Contains the performance details for the Hyper-V Servers in the selected service.

Summarizes the performance details of the Hyper-V Servers in the selected service.

Shows the top N and bottom N Hyper-V Servers based on CPU utilization, CPU percent ready, memory utilization, disk transfer rate, and network transfer rate over a user-specified time range. The value of N is also user-specified. The report takes into consideration only the Hyper-V Servers in the service specified.

Shows the top 5 and bottom 5 Hyper-V Servers based on CPU utilization, CPU percent ready, memory utilization, disk transfer rate, and network transfer rate over a user-specified time range. The report takes into consideration only the Hyper-V Servers in the service specified.

Lists the powered off virtual machines in a specified environment.

This template can be used to generate a report that contains the alarm (or event) history for the selected environment.

Shows the configurations for the virtual machines in the selected environment.

Contains the network performance details for the virtual machines in the selected service.

Shows the top N and bottom N virtual machines based on CPU-used Hz, CPU percent ready, memory consumed, disk growth rate, disk transfer rate, and network transfer rate over a user-specified time range. The value of N is also user-specified. The report takes into consideration only the virtual machines in the service specified.

Shows the top 5 and bottom 5 virtual machines based on CPU-used Hz, CPU percent ready, memory consumed, disk growth rate, disk transfer rate, and network transfer rate over a user-specified time range. The report takes into consideration only the virtual machines in the service specified.

Foglight Chargeback

In an IT environment with a high number of physical and virtual machines, it is often important to determine the true cost of virtual machines in order to adequately plan resources for system utilization. The Chargeback tab available on the Hyper-V Environment dashboard provides standard models, allowing you to get insight into host machine usage within a data center.

For complete information about this tab, see the Foglight™ Chargeback User Guide.

Foglight for Capacity Management

Larger distributed environments often require tools for accurately predicting resource consumption in order to plan for continuous expansion of virtual and physical machines and prevent bottlenecks in your production environment. The Capacity Management tab available on the Hyper-V Environment dashboard allows you to get insight into capacity bottlenecks and management.
