Backups fail with the following transfer error:
- "The transfer failed: 'Timeout taking VSS snapshot of 'Agent_Name'.'"
The agent's status indicator may change from green to dark gray once the backup job fails.
Removing and re-adding the agent for protection fails with messages:
- "GetResponse timed out."
- "The operation has timed out"
The agentless protected guest machine has one or more temporary checkpoints (RR-temp-checkpoint) created on previous backup jobs which weren't removed once backups were completed.
In order to resolve the issue, all "RR-temp-checkpoints" needs to be removed from the guest machine:
As detailed on Microsoft documentation regarding checkpoints removal,
1. In Hyper-V Manager, select the virtual machine.
2. In the Checkpoints section, right-click the checkpoint that you want to delete and click Delete. You can also delete a checkpoint and all subsequent checkpoints. To do so, right-click the earliest checkpoint that you want to delete, and then click Delete Checkpoint Subtree.
3. You might be asked to verify that you want to delete the checkpoint. Confirm that it is the correct checkpoint, and then click Delete.
On the Core console, force a snapshot. If the issue persist, please open a ticket with Quest Support for Rapid Recovery.
