Help - User appears to be “stuck” in the “Preparing” Status
"Waiting: Cannot currently finish prepare of user.name@domain.com, waiting for HideTargetMailbox conditions to be met. This operation will be retried."
or
"waiting for UpdateTargetAddress conditions to be met. This operation will be retried"
or
Waiting: Cannot currently finish prepare of <UPN>, waiting for CreateTargetContact conditions to be met. This operation will be retried.
The user’s status perpetually appears in the “preparing” state. This condition sometimes occurs when a user object is successfully created or updated in the local Target AD but the Prepare Job never completes because it cannot validate the changes are now in Office 365.
This is most often caused when the User attribute changes or the newly-created user objects(s) are never synchronized to Azure AD from the local AD Forest. This causes Power365 to continuously pole (6-minute intervals) to verify that the user is in the proper state.
Associated User Prepare Log Error Message:
Cannot finish prepare of user.name@domain.com, waiting for MailEnableTargetUser, CreateTargetContact, HideTargetMailbox, CreateTargetUser conditions to be met. This operation will be retried.
Background
When a user is “prepared” in the local target AD, attribute changes are executed against a matched user or a new user is created by Power365. In either case, these user objects must now be synchronized to the destination Office 365 tenant. Once that synchronization occurs, Power365 will complete a heath check to determine the object changes were successful, then set the status of that user to “Prepared”. Until that step is completed, the user will appear to be perpetually in the “preparing” status.Verify the problem user object(s) in your Local AD has been synchronized to your Office 365 tenant.
