Discovery of workstations fails while using import file to populate collections, with the error "Warning: Log path \\ServerName\QuestResourceUpdatingLogs$\ is not accessible. Error 0x80070005. Access is denied." showing in the RUM GUI
The workstation log shows all of the following errors:
"Warning: Log path \\ServerName\QuestResourceUpdatingLogs$\ is not accessible. Error 0x80070005. Access is denied. .
Warning: Configuration path \\ServerName\QuestResourceUpdatingConfigs$\ is not accessible. Error 0x80070005. Access is denied. .
Warning: The Quest Migration Manager RUM Controller Service is not accessible. Error 0x00000005. Access is denied"
Domain Credentials verified and still the errors persist, and discovery fails
Create an import file with either the FQDN or the workstation name followed a tab, and by The source Domain Name
The import file used to populate collections in Resource Updating Manager (RUM) should be formatted as follows (per the QMM AD User Guide):
The import file is a text file with two tab-separated columns. Every line should contain a computer you want to process, in one of the following formats:
- NetBIOS name with an optional domain NetBIOS name in the second column
- FQDN
- IP address
Alternative solution: deploy RUM console in the source domain. To do that, in the RUM console, click in menu, Tools, Create Resource Updating Manager Setup, then follow a wizard.
Note: domain trust is required for RUM is source domain to access ADAM database, which is usually resides in the target domain.
