The inability to deploy software from the user console Software Library can be caused by a missing or corrupt clientidentifier module on the endpoint.
The clientidentifier process enables the SMA to identify an endpoint when it is being used to access the SMA web console. The clientidentifier process (clientidentifier.exe on Windows) is expected to be a child process of the konea (konea.exe) process. It is required to take advantage of on demand software installation from the user console.
Location of the KACE agent data directory containing clientidentifier[.exe]:
Windows: %ProgramData%\Quest\KACE\modules\clientidentifier
OS X: /Library/Application Support/Quest/KACE/data/modules/clientidentifier
Linux: /var/quest/kace/modules/clientidentifier
In some cases, anti-virus programs may incorrectly identify this process as suspect and quarantine or delete it. The clientidentifier executable is located in the KACE agent program data directory.
It is recommended that this entire directory be excluded from virus scans on endpoints when possible:
Windows: %ProgramData%\Quest\KACE
OS X: /Library/Application Support/Quest/KACE/data
Linux: /var/quest/kace
If the clientidentifier process is quarantined, it must be removed from quarantine and allowed to function.
If the clientidentifier process is missing entirely, the agent must be reinstalled to reinstall the missing process.
