How to change the "Data" (Attachment Store) location in Archive Manager (4262278)

In some cases, the amount of disk space used by the Data folder (Attachment Store) on the Archive Manager server becomes too large.

It is possible to move the Attachment Store folder (i.e. the Data folder - C:\Quest\ArchiveManager\Data by default) to another location.

To change the location of the Data folder (Attachment Store), perform the following steps:

If you are moving the Attachment Store to another location local to the same server (i.e. from D: drive to X: Drive) follow RESOLUTION 1

If you are moving the Attachment Store to another location on different file server (i.e. from\\SERVER1to\\SERVER2) follow RESOLUTION 2

RESOLUTION 1:

1. Stop all the Archive Manager services.

2. Create a new folder called Data in your new location, for example: X:\ArchiveManager\Data.

3. Open Computer Management (compmgmt.msc) and locate the Archive Manager share used for attachments, it can be identified by the path it points to (C:\Quest\ArchiveManager\Data by default).

4. Make a note of the Share Name then right click the share and click Stop Sharing

5. Share the new Data folder using the Share Name you noted in step 4. Set the following Share Permissions:

ArchiveManagerServiceUsers - Full Access

7. On the Security tab set the following permissions:

Administrators - Full Access
ArchiveManagerServiceUsers - Full Access

8. Move all the contents from the old Data folder to the new Data folder.

9. Start all the Archive Manager services.

RESOLUTION 2:

1. Stop all the Archive Manager services.

2. Create a new folder called Data in your new location.

3. Share the folder using a name of your choice (e.g. ArchiveManagerData)

4. Share the folder with the following permissions:

Everyone - Full Access

5. On the new Data folder grant following filesystem permissions:

Administrators - Full Access
ArchiveManagerServiceUsers - Full Access

6. Move all the contents from the old Data folder to the new Data folder.

7. Open SQL Query Analyzer and connect to the Archive Manager database.

8. Run the following query to locate the current storage location:

USE ArchiveManager
SELECT * FROM StorageLocation

9. Note the StorageLocationID of the store that you are moving.

10. Run the following query to update the storage location, replacing XX with the StorageLocationID obtained in step 9, SERVERNAME with the new servers NETBIOS name and SHARENAME with the share you created in step 3.

USE ArchiveManager
UPDATE StorageLocation SET ConnectionString = 'DATA=\\SERVERNAME\SHARENAME' WHERE StorageLocationID = XX

11. Start all the Archive Manager services.
