Exchange Store Manager service might fail to scan some items in a mailbox. Items which might cause Exchange Store Manager to fail should be removed from mailbox. Deleting those items will place them into Dumpster, but the Exchange Store Manager will still fail as it also scans items in Dumpster. In this case the dumpster needs to be purged.
Purging will finally remove those items without option to recover, so they may need to be backed up prior to purging.
Handling of 'Recover Deleted Items' option in Outlook can be tricky as it may try and restore the emails to their original folder - this description shows how items from dumpster can be restored into a certain folder of the mailbox.
When the 'Recover Deleted Items' option of Outlook is used to recover items from dumpster, the items will always be placed into that folder which is highlighted.
Here in this example we see a folder of the mailbox, named 'Archive', is highlighted and opened. Option 'Recover Deleted Items' opened shows a few emails available in the dumpster.
We tick two of the available emails, choose 'Restore Selected Items' and press 'OK'. The restored emails will then be placed in folder 'Archive' because we highlighted this folder before completing this action.
