New Microsoft Announcement
On October 3, 2022, Microsoft announced a new requirement for the migration API.
Beginning January 1, 2023, the SourceType field will be mandatory when calling the Migration API. Starting October 1st, 2022, a warning message will be sent if the field is missing.
What does this new SourceType property provide?
Microsoft has stated that this property will help them with configuring throughput performance for different content source types.
How does this affect me?
This requirement is forcing a change in Quest’s desktop software products. The content migration products that are impacted are:
Customers who have an active maintenance plan must download and install the hot fixes or minor releases to avoid having their content migrations to SharePoint Online disabled by Microsoft migration API.
Customers who know that they will not have an active maintenance plan at the time of the release of the hot fixes and/or minor releases should contact your Quest Sales Rep as soon as possible to avoid having their content migrations to SharePoint Online disabled by Microsoft migration API.
Please see knowledge base article, Microsoft Enforces SourceType Field in Migration API for further information.
Quest plans to release hot fixes for the last two releases for each of the content migration products. These hot fixes will include the applicable code to handle the requirement for the SourceType property.
The hot fixes will be available in December 2022 and another notification will be sent when the downloads are available. The next minor releases will be available in February 2023 for download and product release notifications will be sent.
