Note: Please note that while Microsoft can place compatibility holds on certain systems with certain device drivers, you can still deploy to these devices manually. These devices will detect and deploy from the KACE Systems Management Appliance (SMA). Please ensure full regression testing before deploying this upgrade or any other upgrades/updates/patches.
Microsoft has a list of known issues for Windows 10 version 2004 upgrade. Within these known issues are several critical warnings which could cause things ranging from a blue screen of death (BSOD) to issues with gaming and variable refresh rate.
Microsoft has placed a compatibility hold on certain situations for the Windows 10 version 2004 upgrade. That said, these restrictions are not built into the upgrade logic, so they will still deploy when pushed manually. Microsoft suggests:
Note We recommend that you do not attempt to manually update using the Update now button or the Media Creation Tool until this issue has been resolved.
This note also applies to the KACE Systems Management Appliance, as it too will detect/deploy, without considering the compatibility hold.
