Unable to Deploy UEFI Image with Unknown Error: 4294967295 (4292342)

When attempting to deploy a WIM UEFI Image, the job fails on Apply Image Task with error: 4294967295.

This situation takes place when the Appliance is copying S.wim to the target device. You can confirm this thru the output log(located in the hidden folder \\SDA\petemp\), this are the errors pointed: 

This situation is still under investigation. It can take effect on images that were just captured or on images that were working previously. 

This is affecting versions 4.0.695 through 7.x of the KACE SDA appliance.

First, to confirm the error,

1. Go to the petemp folder(\\SDA\petemp\) and look for a .log file that starts with 'W' followed by an underscore '_', then the MAC Address of the device you are deploying to, then another underscore '_' and then the ID of the image you are deploying. e.g. "W_34E6D72640FD_124.log"
2. Get to the end of the log and the last 3 entries should be related to a process on S:\. At this point, check the error by debugging the log from bottom to top until you confirm the problem.

At the moment, Quest KACE provides 2 workarounds for this situation:

1. You can capture a new image, but instead of capturing C:\ and S:\, just capture C:\.
   1. After capturing C:\, go to Library | Mid-level Tasks and create a new BAT Script and name it Apply UEFI Partitions - S:\ Not Captured
   2. Set the Runtime Environment: to KACE SDA Boot Environment (Windows)
   3. Under the BAT Script box, add this commands:
      
      bcdboot c:\windows /s s: /f UEFI
      bcdedit /store S:\efi\microsoft\boot\bcd /set {bootmgr} device partition=s:
      bcdedit /store S:\efi\microsoft\boot\bcd /set {memdiag} device partition=s:
      bcdedit /store S:\efi\microsoft\boot\bcd /set {default} device partition=c:
      bcdedit /store S:\efi\microsoft\boot\bcd /set {default} osdevice partition=c:
      Bcdedit /store S:\efi\microsoft\boot\bcd /set {FWbootmgr} displayorder {Bootmgr} /addfirst
      bootsect /nt60 s:
      • This command will create the bcd on the S:\ drive and apply it
   4. Add any note for description and save the task. This will create a mid level task.
   5. Replace the Apply UEFI Partitions task with this new task and run the deployment.

2. Use the existing image.
   1. Download the Create UEFI Partitions - S.WIM Error Fix Pre Installation Task and the Apply UEFI Partitions - S:\ Captured at the end of this document.
   2. Import the task to the KACE Systems Deployment Appliance.
   3. Go to the Deployments | System Images.
   4. Access the image.
   5. Remove the Create UEFI Partitions Pre Installation Task and the Apply UEFI Partitions Mid Level Task.
   6. Add the Create UEFI Partitions - S.WIM Error Fix Pre Installation Task and the Apply UEFI Partitions - S:\ Captured mid level task to the image.
   7. Save the changes and proceed to deploy the image.
