Several reasons can cause an image to fail on the first, for example, a sysprep error, an unattend.xml error or a BSOD due to a driver issue.
Gathering the Windows Setup Logs would be most helpful in troubleshooting the issue, here is how:
1. Boot the system to KBE
2. Go to Recovery | Command Prompt and type:
xcopy /sei C:\Windows\panther t:\logs\panther
xcopy /sei C:\Windows\system32\sysprep t:\logs\sysprep
copy C:\Windows\setupapi.log t:\logs
copy C:\Windows\setupact.log t:\logs
copy C:\Windows\setuperr.log t:\logs
copy C:\Windows\debug\netsetup.log t:\logs
copy C:\Windows\dism.log t:\logs
copy C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.app.log t:\logs
copy C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log t:\logs
copy C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.offline.log t:\logs
copy C:\Windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log t:\logs
3. Compress the logs folder in \\k2000\petemp and upload it to a support ticket for analysis.
