After the Java 7.51 update as been applied, running the K2000 WebUI from that computer and attempting to connect to the VNC server on a KBE via the internal Java VNC Viewer ( Clicking on Devices | Device Inventory and then clicking on the action icon beside the IP address listed for the KBE booted machine) fails with one of two errors.
“Missing required Permissions manifest attribute in main jar”
or
“Your security settings have blocked a self signed application from running”
The quick workaround for Java 7 only (Java 8 does not have a Medium setting) is to set the Java Security level to “Medium” from the “High (minimum recommended )” setting
Windows 7 :
Click Start | All Programs | Java | Configure Java
Click on the security tab.
Move the Slider to “Medium”
Click OK
Windows 8 :
Open control panel
Click on the Java Applet
Click on the General tab.
Click on the security tab.
Move the Slider to “Medium”
Click OK
If you are uncomfortable changing the recommended Java settings, an updated VNC server can be installed in the K2000 by upgrading to K2000 version 3.7.116629 or later.
Once this update has been applied, you will then need to :
Remove the Java cache :
Windows 7 :
Click Start | All Programs | Java | Configure Java
Click on the General tab.
Click on the Settings button
Click on the Delete Files button
Click OK
Click OK
Windows 8 :
Open control panel
Click on the Java Applet
Click on the General tab.
Click on the Settings button
Click on the Delete Files button
Click OK
Click OK
Restore the Java Security Prompts:
Windows 7 :
Click Start | All Programs | Java | Configure Java
Click on the General tab.
Click on the security tab.
Click on the Restore Security Prompts button
Click on the Restore All button
Click OK
Windows 8 :
Open control panel
Click on the Java Applet
Click on the General tab.
Click on the security tab.
Click on the Restore Security Prompts button
Click on the Restore All button
Click OK
Once this procedure has been completed, when you open the K2000 Java based VNC Viewer via the action icon, you will be presented with a POP-UP asking “Do you want to run this application “? The publisher will show as “UVNC BVBA” and the Location will the IP address of the KBE booted machine (using port 5800)
Check the box “Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above” and then click “run”. You should then see the VNC log on screen as normal.
Keep in mind the exception created is only valid for that IP address, should you boot another machine into KBE or reboot the current machine and receive a different IP address from the DHCP server you will need to create a new exception for that IP as well.
Note also some browsers (Firefox as an example ) will add an conformation step before the Java POP-UP (above) asking if you want to “activate the plug in” ?
Click on the “Activate Java ™ Platform SE 7_U” link.
When you see the “Allow java.com to run Java ™ Platform SE 7_U” POP-UP, click “Allow and Remember”
As with the Java exception, you will need to create a new one with each new IP
